Congratulations to the St. Athanasius Senior Bible Bowl Team! (Tom Ballew, Ginny Braun, Adam King and Peter Speier, and coach Subdeacon Michael Easbey) They won 1st Place tonight at the Diocese Parish Life Conference! In two weeks they will go to the Archdiocese Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to compete in the national finals. Tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. we will celebrate the Feast of SS. Peter and Paul with Divine Liturgy, followed by Coffee Hour.
Construction has begun on the patio expansion, shade structure and tot lot, praise God! Thank you to all who have supported the Golf Tournament and Building Fund! We will keep you updated on the progress.
Please pray for our mission team to Mexico. They leave this Thursday for 6 days to build a house. They have dedicated this trip to the memory of Dean Brunner and Gail Shannon; both generous supporters of Project Mexico, both of whom passed from this life in the past year. Memory eternal.
The St. Athanasius Choir gathered tonight for a very belated Pascha party. Was more of a Pentecost party. What a hard working, talented, good hearted, faithful, fun group of people. Thank you, Fr. Nicholas and Jan, for hosting the party at your house! May God continue to guide and bless the music ministry of our church.

(St. Brigid of Kildare is the patron saint of St. Athanasius Church’s outreach ministry to the unsheltered and needy of our Santa Barbara/Goleta community.) St. Brigid of Kildare & the Wolf Once a rustic, seeing a wolf run about in proximity to the palace, killed it; not knowing that it was the tame creature of the king; and he brought the dead beast to the king, expecting a reward. Then the prince in anger ordered the man to be cast into prison and executed. Now when Brigid heard this, her spirit was stirred within her, and mounting her chariot, she drove to the court, to intercede for the life of the poor countryman. And on the way, there came a wolf over the bog racing towards her, and it leaped into the chariot, and allowed her to caress it. Then, when she reached the palace, she went before the king, with the wolf at her side, and said, “Sire! I have brought thee a better wolf than that thou hast lost, spare therefore the life of the poor man who unwittingly slew thy beast.” Then the king accepted her present with great joy, and ordered the prisoner to be released.
